A Dim Light

I opened our junk drawer the other day, and I found a flashlight that was flipped on. I’m not sure how long it had been there, but I am certain that it was on its last leg because the light was dim. I flipped it off, grabbed what I was looking for, and shut the drawer.

As I turned around, I thought about the light that we have within us. It reminded me of when Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Anyone who follows Me will never walk in the darkness but will have the light of life” (John 8:12). He came so that His followers (that’s us) would never have to walk in darkness alone. This flashlight reminded me so much that sometimes our light does get dim. However, even when it feels dark and even when the world feels weary, we can still find our source of joy and light in Him.

Friends, as we prepare to enter into a new year this week, I hope you will find rest for yourselves in Him. Despite the circumstances that this year brought and despite the circumstances next year will bring, I hope that we all will lean upon Him and His everlasting light that will never fail us. Let’s not let our light go dim.

Have a great week, friends! I wish you the happiest New Year!
