If the Jews of Jesus’ day watched miraculous signs and wonders performed by Jesus, and responded with grumbling and a lack of faith (John 6:43), why would we think that having faith in today’s world would be any easier?
Having faith is described in Hebrews 11:1 as “… confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” The author of Hebrews continued describing that “By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible” (Hebrews 11:3). What this tells me is that faith isn’t easy. It’s work to build a foundation. After that, it’s continued work to build on that firm rock so that despite our circumstances and temporary afflictions, we can know without a doubt that God has it.
Faith for me is just that: Knowing and believing that God is in it ALL. The bad, the good, the beautiful, the ugly, the hard— He’s in control of it all. He still loves us. He still died for us. He is still the author of all things, and He finishes what he starts. No work is left unfinished.
Even though we can’t see Jesus today, we can see His hands and feet moving through the love, grace, and service we offer each other. If we’re not seeing that, maybe we aren’t offering it. Because the truth is He is in all, and we are all offered the same love, grace, and grand act of service from Him. We only need to accept that. ❤️
If you are struggling with faith, dive into your faith this week. Pray, read Scripture, gather with other Christians who can encourage you and your soul, and remember that you are LOVED. “For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift — not from works, so that no one can boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9).
Have a great Memorial Day, friends! We are so thankful for our freedom. 🇺🇸
