Expectations of love versus the reality of love can really impact our perspectives. Lean into the One who created love and is Love.
Valentine's Day is a sticky day. Some of us find ourselves in relationships that do not live up to our expectations or culture's expectations. Some of us find ourselves longing to be in a relationship, yet continue coming up empty-handed. Some of us are just smitten with the day itself. While some of us fall somewhere in between. Wherever you are, you are not alone.

Valentine's Day & Love
Love hasn’t looked like a romance movie for us, but I know I love Chris because at the end of each storm we’ve faced, we’re still standing together.
Not one in front of the other, but side-by-side. We are weathered, and each storm has shaped us appropriately. I’m not the same person who Chris married, and in ten years from now, I won’t be the same person I am today. People change, and God uses situations and storms to do that.
We don’t love perfectly. It’s impossible in my opinion, but we draw our love from God, who is love.
However your Valentine’s Day looks today, whether it’s spent in complete head-over-heels love, your every day kind of love, alone, or somewhere in between, please remember that we didn’t invent love. God did when He sent His One and Only Son for you and me, and that is WHY we love. God is love, and if today is hard, lean into that.
Chris, thank you for weathering this world with me, side-by-side. I love you, a latte.
