My email has been bombarded with sales, deals, and up to 50% off specials for months preparing for Christmas shopping. I love to give gifts, and I love a good sale but here’s the truth:
NOTHING we buy or give this year can replace the love, joy, and peace we receive from the gift of Jesus Christ.
NOTHING we buy or give this year can top the gift of presence in our family and friends lives.
And lastly, NOTHING we buy or give this year can fill the void we have without Jesus.
My friends, Christmas is so much more than the gifts we purchase and the unwrapping we will do this season. It’s about creating room in a busy world to receive a BIG God who humbled Himself in the form of a child. It’s about preparing room in our hearts, homes, and busy schedules to sit with Him.
This Advent season, let it be our goal to “Make your [our] own attitude that of Christ Jesus, who, existing in the form of God, did not consider equality with God as something to be used for His own advantage. Instead He emptied Himself by assuming the form of a slave, taking on the likeness of men. And when He had come as a man in His external form, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death — even to death on a cross. For this reason God highly exalted Him and gave Him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow — of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth — and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:5-11).
He’s the best gift, friends! Let’s receive Him this season. In receiving Him this Christmas, let's also give Him to the lost and hurting world around us. Have a nice week!
Subscribe to get these straight to your email WITH audio, so you can listen on the go! Thanks, friends!
