You Matter...

WE❤️

Do the details of your life really matter? Do you ever wonder that? In the dark hours of the night, do you ever wonder why am I here? What is my purpose?

I’ve been reading through Exodus, and I’ve been blown away by the detail God used for The Tabernacle.

The Tabernacle was a portable sanctuary, or place the people could worship God. It was also a place that was intended to be holy enough for God to dwell there with His people.

Exodus 25 and beyond describe specifically the details of the Tabernacle. Just to give the smallest glimpse, Exodus 26:7-10 reads, “You are to make curtains of goat hair for a tent over the tabernacle; make 11 of these curtains. The length of each curtain should be 45 feet and the width of each curtain six feet. All 11 curtains are to have the same measurements. Join five of the curtains by themselves, and the other six curtains by themselves. Then fold the sixth curtain double at the front of the tent.”

That’s just three verses of specifics for one piece of the tabernacle. The chapter (and many after) continues to focus on Tabernacle requirements, and though I imagine a magnificent and beautiful dwelling place for God, I am surprised by the amount of detail that was included. As I read through it this week, two things really stood out.

  1. Details matter to God. God doesn’t just instruct Moses to build some ambiguous Tabernacle. He wanted it to be beautiful. He wanted it to be Heavenly, so every detail mattered. The same applies to us. God doesn’t just want us to live a good and happy life. He wants our lives to be Heavenly. He wants our lives, our suffering, our struggles, our attitudes, and our hearts to reveal Him to others. The details of our lives matter to God. The words that come from our mouths matter to God. The things we do and say matter to God. As believers, it’s our job to point the way to the cross in every circumstance and detail.

  2. We all have a purpose in creating and carrying out God’s big plan. In Exodus 31:1-8, God told Moses that He appointed specific gifts to certain people to make The Tabernacle exactly as He had described. We all have gifts and talents that we were individually given by God to help fulfill His plan of redemption through Jesus. And before you think, I don't have a gift, you do. We all do. We just need to work with God to discover it. Jeremiah 29:11 reads, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” That's pretty clear, right?

You matter to God. He has big plans for your life. When we surrender to those plans, we can achieve more than we ever imagined. We can trust God with the details of our lives because it will be crafted stronger and more beautiful than we ever could have imagined.

Friends, I’m praying for the details this week -for all of us! Have a great week ahead!
